Meet Carey

For 5 decades, Carey has been a world-respected leader in talent development: scouting, mentoring, and launching rising stars in film, fashion, music, and theatre.

In 2006, she became a Christian and turned her industry experience & connections to a new purpose, God's purpose! How? By opening VIP doors for called and gifted Christians.

Why? To fulfill Christ's Great Commission in Earth's most influential mission fields: arts, entertainment, and media!

Today, Carey continues with vigor, purpose, and success. Christian performers are starring on stages and screens all over the world.

Footnote: Carey has won 2 Lifetime Achievement Awards for her contributions to the advancement of faith-based performers in media.

"I'm a Late-in-Life Believer

I was a burned-out 51-year-old CEO.
Today I'm a fired-up Christian on a mission."

"Most Christians are born into the faith…

And/or find Jesus early. I've been told, "the older you get, the lower the odds." But I've always liked long shots. So I became one, committing to Christ at the age of 51.

Back story: I was raised an Episcopalian at an 'influential' church. But as a truth-seeking teen, it felt more like a weekly "who's who" status event. So I left. In college, I became a Buddhist, but I found the same arrogance I disliked in Christianity. So I left. Again.

For the next 29 years, work became my first love. I joined my mother, a respected talent developer, and we launched what industry VIP's considered the top talent convention in the world– and we launched enough stars to prove it."

"I believed in God, but didn't know Jesus...

And I didn't trust Christians. I saw too many "holier-than-thou" hypocrites. Nevertheless, a few honest-to-God believers became my close friends. (Thank you, Rachel, Donna & Nise!) I loved them, but it took a series of "breakings" in my seemingly wonderful life to bring me to my knees. And I prayed.

Long story short: I found Jesus in an isolated, mountain-top cabin. He'd been there all along, but I needed years and space to realize it. I began a new life. A few months later, God spoke to me on a treadmill. He told me to devote my work in entertainment to Him. SO I DID!"

Back Story:

"My Mother,
Millie Lewis...

Was a New York fashion model in the late 1940s, and a face for DuBarry Cosmetics, the "Revlon" of its day. After she met and married my dad, she left the city and became a well-known talent developer (and a civil rights leader) in the American South.

But long before her modeling days, young Millie wanted to be an evangelist (which didn't seem to happen). Nevertheless, we serve a multi-generational God. Her dream would come true 70 years later!

My mom's vision and unique background laid the foundation for actors, models, and talent for Christ... rising in TODAY’S film, fashion, music, and theater.

"My Dad,
Jack Lewis...

Was a WWII fighter pilot in the China-Burma-India Campaign. He flew just short of two tours of duty. He received 2 Distinguished Flying Crosses and a Presidential Citation. After the war, He became a stunt pilot and recruiter for the newly formed US Air Force.

Promoted to Major and a bona fide war hero, he met my mom in a NYC Air Show. She was the model who was hired to stand on his float in a parade down Broadway!"

"Wartime Romance...

It's hard to believe such a 'fantastical' story without seeing the proof, so God preserved this photo of their first meeting! Like most vets, my dad loved to tell me funny stories about flight school, but he rarely talked about his air battles."

"My parents moved South...

And people wanted to know if this former covergirl could help their sons and daughters realize their dreams... to become models, actors, singers, and dancers. So she opened a talent school and agency, under her name, Millie Lewis, helping countless other people launch their own careers." (3 Millie Lewis Agencies/Schools still exist today!)

"My mom loved and welcomed ALL people...

Looking back to the 1960's and 70's South, I'm proud that my Mom was a civil rights leader in the 1960's and 70's.... in the South! Her schools and agencies welcomed, trained, and placed talented people of all ages, colors, and beliefs. This photo was taken at a regional talent convention around 1976. (I'm in the middle, in purple)."

"I had my plan. God had His...

Guess who won? (Obviously, God:) I wanted to be an attorney, but my mom needed help, and I needed income. It took me 3 decades to realize the evolutionary extent of God's plan. In 2006, at the age of 51, I opened a Bible, started to read, and became a Christian!"

"I finally understood my life's purpose. I was thrilled!

  • The reason my mom was a New York fashion model,
  • The reason I followed her into business,
  • The reason I had incredibly brave parents,
  • The reason I worked so hard for so long.

I realized God allowed this mega-mess we call MEDIA to cover the earth... for such a time as this: a time of deep darkness, a time of instant messaging, a time when "kings" rule an empire called ENTERTAINMENT, a time when God's stars are called to multiply their talents...

TO RISE AND SHINE, to enter the labor of others, to become positive role models, to lead lost sheep back to the Shepherd. Therein, God reaps where He did not sow.

The Great Commission could be carried in a NEW WAY – at the speed of Light with love, not condemnation. Having been “an outsider” most of my life, I get their reservations. I know their doubts and how to reach them.

The company my mother and I founded, called “AMTC” (Actors, Models & Talent Convention), got a name-lift. It became a non-profit ministry called Actors, Models, and Talent FOR CHRIST. God ordained AMTC to run for 36 years (1982-2018), through triumphs, trials, transformation, and countless success stories.

Therein, AMTC is my past, and I'm thankful for its legacy. Shine Talent Success is my present and future. It carries the legacy of AMTC in a sleeker, industry-relevant way.

Because getting an agent and booking good roles has gone virtual. Today's rising stars must ride that wave and master it… to stay relevant and marketable.

My elder daughter, Glynis, and I work to help future stars rise to their highest potential, and we’re delighted to bring AMTC’s unparalleled track record (including VIP contacts, coaches, and success stories) to Shine: a more accessible and economical path for invisible dreams to become visible realities.”
